Rachael Marie Walker is a Seattle writer from the weeds of Virginia.

She graduated summa cum laude from Hollins University in 2018 and graduated with an MFA in prose creative writing from the University of Washington - Seattle in 2024. She is a 2026 Bread Loaf Fellow and a 2026 Seventh Wave Narrative Shifts Mini resident.

Rachael enjoys writing about bodies, queerness, trauma and recovery, coming of age, recovery, place, families, and formal/structural experimentation. She is currently working on a few different projects combining visual art with nonfiction narrative and a few novel drafts, as well as short fiction, essays, and the occasional poem while the longer projects are cooking. She’s been a voracious reader all her life.

Rachael is working, daily, on recovery, which appeals to her love of processes, and has given her a fresh perspective on life. She’s really, really glad to be here, on planet Earth, with billions of humans, fresh fruit, and sunsets.

When not reading or writing, you can find her on a long bike ride, teaching at a Montessori preschool, chatting to someone about music history, or watching films with her cat, Honeybee.
